A Few (Good) Bumps In The Road
At the September 17 meeting of City Council, Councillor Jackson moved a motion which passed unanimously to allocate $15,000 from his Ward 6 budget to install speed cushions that were requested by citizen petitions on the following streets: Toby Crescent (2 speed cushions between Grenadier and Elliott), Kerr Street (1 speed cushion), Green Meadow Road (between Kerr Street and Queensdale Avenue East), East 4th Street (1 speed cushion between Brucedale Avenue East and Kerr Street). It is anticipated that the speed cushions will be installed this autumn.
In addition, the City’s Public Works – Traffic Operations division carried out a study at the request of neighbourhood constituents to determine if speed cushions are warranted on Queensdale Avenue East. The outcome of the study determined that four speed cushions are warranted between Upper Ottawa Street and Upper Gage Avenue given the proximity to Highview Elementary School and Highview Park. Accordingly, and with appropriate departmental funding and approval, the speed cushions will be installed this autumn.
