🆕 Ensuring Infrastructure Remains A (Sherman) Cut Above
The City of Hamilton has entered a contract with Rankin Construction Inc. to complete works for ongoing infrastructure upgrades under contract C15-26-25(H). The Sherman Cut has been scheduled for road re-surfacing and the replacement of steel walls located below Mountain Park Avenue and Concession Street bridges. Construction is anticipated to begin April 27, 2026 and be substantially completed early September 2026, weather permitting.
Due to the narrow roadway width of the Sherman Cut, a full road closure is necessary to ensure safety of all individuals involved and to expedite the project completion. As a result, construction activities will occupy the entire width of the roadway. Local traffic and emergency services will be required to use alternative routes or follow the designated detour routes as outlined below:
- Westbound traffic will be redirected via Upper Sherman Avenue, Fennell Avenue East, Upper Wellington Street, and then onto the Jolley Cut.
- Eastbound traffic will be redirected via Upper Sherman Avenue, Fennell Avenue East, Upper Ottawa Street, and then onto Mountain Brow Boulevard.
