Huntington Park Recreation Centre Closure for Upgrades
Exciting news has developed after working with City Recreation staff the last couple of years to finally receive approval with plans in place to enhance and refresh our very popular Ward 6 recreation centre this year with the main feature – the new waterslide – that will replace the existing outdated and decommissioned waterslide. The entire recreation centre will be closed for approximately six months starting Monday, March 17, 2025 with an expceted reopening date of late Fall 2025.
Moreover, a motion I brought to the Wednesday, April 16 Council meeting -- which passed unanimously -- allocated an additional $545,000 from my Ward 6 Reserve Funds thereby allowing for even more improvements and enhancements to be carried out that otherwise would never have been done during this closure for the new waterslide.
During the closure, the following will take place:
• Removal and installation of a new Pool Slide
• Pool basin, deck and changeroom tile replacement
• New wall painting, flooring, and fixtures
• Extensive maintenance work
Individuals are encouraged to attend drop-in swim/gym and registered programs at:
• Hill Park Recreation Centre
• Stoney Creek Recreation Centre
• Valley Park Community Centre
Nearby locations that offer Water Fit are:
• Dominic Agostino Riverdale Community Centre
• Hill Park Recreation Centre
• Sir Winston Churchill Recreation Centre
• Valley Park Community Centre
