UPDATE -- A Legion of Fans

UPDATE: Councillor Tom Jackson presents a cheque to The Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 163 as part of the $100,000 previously approved at Council as per Councillor Jackson's advocacy. To the right of Councillor Jackson in the photo are: Office Manager Krysten Rafferty, President Jean Tomlinson, and her husband.

I was thrilled to speak in favour of a motion at Council that passed unanimously allocating $100,000 (i.e. $25,000 from Wards 6, 7, 8, and 14) for one-time costs associated with essential building repairs at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 163.

This motion, which passed unanimously, represents the culmination of over 6 months of engagement that I quarterbacked including research, meetings, advocacy, and brokering partnerships with various stakeholders including Legion staff and volunteers, City of Hamilton Finance staff, and my fellow Hamilton Mountain Councillors (i.e. Councillor Esther Pauls, Councillor Mike Spadafora, and Councillor John-Paul Danko).

I was happy that the following representatives from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 163 were In attendance:

Wally Eland, 1st Vice President

Krysten Rafferty, Office Manager

Sandra Randall, President of the Ladies Auxiliary

Jean Tomlinson, President
